Heavy Christmas

Tuna

I've pretty much had my fill of Christmas already. I'm looking forward to the day itself, getting together with family for the first year in a while and cooking up a storm with my brother. Should be entertaining. I'm just a bit done on the whole Christmas food thing. I was hankering for a different season this lunch time. I wanted to step away from the heavy rich flavours and hues of December and get some spring lightness. Some fresh tastes and colours, get away from all those browns and reds. This recipe I found in the new Jamie Oliver which as cookbooks go (see my rant earlier in the week) I really rate, despite the fact his idiot gurning mug appears on nearly every page! The writings very him, laddish and light, but the tour through southern Italy that it represents is full of gems. This simple seared tuna with a lemon, oregano and oil dressing is typical. Not exactly local I know, but welcome never the less.

Monkey Gland - you are making me VERY hungry even though I've only just got back from a fancy 4star lunch at Campton Place.

It's raining cats and dogs herein SF but your picture makes me look forward to sunnier times

So you like Jamie Oliver? I think his approach to cooking is so appealing: keep it simple, don't worry a lot about measurements, and be brave. Translates really well to California cooking.

I don't know if I would go as far as saying I like him...I feel quite conflicted about him actually.

I think that's supposed to be the general take on him, so I was interested that in your post you seemed to be liking him.

careful cookie - lets leave Monkey G in the closet for now. Baby steps to declaring his love for the chappie.

I have met him and can attest he is adorable.

Sam: Who's adorable, MG or Jamie?!! I'm already smitten by -- well, both of them!!
And I haven't even seen "Brokeback" yet. Oh. Yeah. I'm also smitten by Heath.

In terms of admitting undying love for the man, I'm so far in the closet I'm in Narnia!

CC - the sentence could be easily used for either which is what I left it ambiguous.

Monkey Gland wasn't the one who called me "sweetpea" though. Jamie knows how to butter up his fans and make the ladies weak at the knees which is probably why he is sitting on millions by now. I wasn't so smitten til he called me sweetpea.
