Blogger Moot

I'm not actually sure what the collective noun is for a group of food bloggers, I imagine it's something like a garnish of bloggers or a diet of bloggers. Whatever it is, it gathered at Salt Yard on Goodge Street last night for an evening of blog gossip, tapas and the comparing of hit counts. Myself, Krista in London , Howard & Ben of LondonFood and Jessica from Ripe London were in attendance for a gathering of London based bloggers and it proved an interesting evening.

The food was a grazing style menu of Spanish tapas and Italian dishes. I was a touch dubious at first but a glance at the menu piqued my interest. There's a solid charcuterie menu, with Joselito and Iberico hams, Proscuitto and Finnocchiona and some good looking cheeses. The tapas feature some classics that were competently executed, such as Morcilla Croquetas, Padron Peppers and a good solid Spinach Tortilla. More elaborate and actually less well executed dishes such as the Confit of "Gloucester Old Spot" Pork Belly with Rosemary scented Cannelini Beans were disappointing. The Piquillo Peppers stuffed with Salt Cod was over refrigirated and a touch ordinary. The desserts were excellent though with the Soft Chocolate cake with Frangelico ice cream and the Sherry Ice Cream standing out proud.

What made up for any disappointments in the menu was the company. It's easy to forget that there are people who get as worked up about food as you do, and blogging can sometimes feel a touch solitary, even when people are leaving comments, so it was good to hook up with this fine group of dedicated bloggers and I urge you all to check them out.
